Some of our Ministry
Areas
In the first six months after we moved into our house last year we worked with nine different mission teams that visited us. Their help and encouragement has been a renewing of spirit, soul and body for the Sanchez family. Medical clinic, Judgment House, dental clinic, reconstruction of a church building, women and children ministry, counseling, feeding and giving to the poor and needy were part of our giving of Love. Over 800 people committed their lives to the Lord, and many more recommitted their lives to the precious pearl they found and for which they gave everything. Las Lomas, Pavas God has opened doors to work among the squatters in Las Lomas, Pavas. These people are living in tin and cardboard shacks with dirt floors and a total of two rooms, a bedroom and kitchen for a family of 7 or more. The majority are Nicaraguans that have left their hometowns to better their situation, but instead have found that they have no jobs, medical help or any means to provide for their families. Often they turn to drugs, alcohol and prostitution. La Guaracha The little coffee town where we live has a church which is at this moment being helped and encouraged by a north American church. We have all been able to witness and share the gospel while working on the addition of the Sunday school Rooms. Los Cartagos This town has no church but there are now over 5 families which have meetings at home and visit one of the churches nearest to their home. We have a crusade with about five different churches at the town hall and we were able to witness many come to know Christ and rededicate their lives to Christ.
Here we had a two-day conference for the Iglesia Betel and there were over 50 men and women that participated and were able to get information on how to organize a growing church. Cinco Esquina This is a small town that had a tiny church. Thanks to all of your prayers and support we were able to help in the financing of a new property with a house on the lot for the pastor and his wife. they are now using a portion of the house for the services but, starting in January of 2000 the construction of the temple will begin.
Rio Tuiz A place where only a few people are invited to go since the bridges and the trail is very primitive. After a 3-hour hike up the muddy one person path along steep cliffs you arrive at a paradise with waterfalls and the beauty of God. Mission Challenge is having some cabins made for retreats and for nature lovers and hikers to stay and in turn hear the Word of God and His great love. Poasito Here the people fed us and fed us and fed us. But Glory be to God they gave us the best that they had and we were able to see the smiles on all of the faces in that community. It's very cold in this area and it is known for it's strawberries. We were able to pray for many of the families and able to preach the Gospel in that town. La Barra This a fishing town and again because of your prayers and support we have been able to visit and help financially for the past 4 years. The pastor is in need of your prayers; he and his wife are very discouraged in this place. Here there is a lot of drug import. A 6-hour drive is required to get there, 3 of which are on the most rocky and muddy roads with bridges that are almost smaller than our car. A 1-hour boat trip follows. When we arrived at the port we missed the only taxi boat that goes by daily to take you to your destination, so we decided to wait until word got to the pastor that we were waiting for him at the port. We only forgot about one tiny thing -- mosquitoes -- tons of them. Rain was our constant companion. We built our tent and of course waited but the tent would not stay up. It was broken. We finally made it to La Barra and started our evening preaching and sharing the Good News to the people there. On one of the days we had a little baby-shower for the pastor and his wife, due in January. Also we were able to provide food and clothing for them. The next morning was a time of festivities in this town -- Carlos and Pacheco had the honor of baptizing 7 people into the kingdom of God. There was no land so, we found a shallow spot, tied the boat to a trunk in the river and there we worshipped the Lord and baptized the people.
